Goals for 2018!

Yep, it's that time of year again- people will begin talking about 'new year, new me' and all the things they want to achieve over the course of the next 365 days. I am, of course, no exception to this. I love the idea of the new year being a chance to completely reinvent yourself, and I am overly happy that this year, the 1st of January is on a Monday! Doesn't that just feel like a brand new chapter, a completely fresh start? It's just so satisfying!

If you read my post detailing my highlights from 2017 then you'll be aware that 2017 was an incredible year for me, where I accomplished so many things, in terms of both my career and my personal life.I feel extremely happy with how the year went for me, and I am determined to make 2018 even bigger and even better! I want all the happiness, all the success and all the fulfillment I can get out of life.

At the end of 2016 I set myself the following goals for 2017:

1- Lose weight.
2- Take up running again.
3- Find a full time job.
4- Continue saving to move out and maybe even actually be moved out this time next year.
5- Learn to drive.
6- Travel more. More road trips, more mini weekend breaks and more holidays.
7- Text more people first.
8- Finish my journalism course.
9- Reach 100,000 blog views.
10- Improve my magazine even more and try to make more money from it.

Well, I can safely say I haven't achieved all of these (surprise surprise, does anyone ever achieve all of their resolutions?), but I am definitely impressed with the ones I have achieved- 1, 3, 4, 6 and 10

Yes that's right- since I was 18 I have made the new year's resolution to save to move out/actually move out and this year it has finally happened! On January 5th I will be moving into my own place with my boyfriend and really having a brand new start at the beginning of the new year! In addition to this, I've also lost weight and become fitter than I was last year (although having just been Christmas it's starting to creep back on) which is something I have always struggled to do, year in, year out. I've got myself a 'proper' job and I have done a lot of mini breaks this year! I'm pretty happy with that- and to be honest, I'm not too fussed about the ones I didn't achieve.

"You know all those things you've always wanted to do? You should go do them"

There can be a lot of pressure at this time of year to set yourself highly unrealistic goals that make you look good for the benefit of other people but only leave you feeling disappointed in yourself when you're unable to achieve them.

Don't stress!

Any resolutions you do choose to make should only be for your benefit, and should be about bettering you and your life. Think about what you really want from your life and what things you could achieve to make your life better. Make 2018 your selfish year and make your goals all about you. What can you do to make yourself happier and make sure that you're living your best life? Give more generously to charity to practice being selfless and take advantage of your privileges in life. Cut off toxic people that don't add anything positive to your life. Start sleeping more, do more of what makes you happy- do everything for yourself. Live your best life...I can't stress this enough!

I chose to think more carefully this year about what I want out of 2018 and any resolutions I want to make and I realised one thing...

...I don't have any resolutions.

For real! For the first time in my life ever, there are no resolutions. I don't want to vow to myself that I'll lose weight, that I'll start up a ridiculous exercise regime that I know I'll come to hate and ditch a few months down the line. I don't want to vow to start driving when I know I won't have the money, or vow to make more of an effort with people when very few people make an effort with me.

I've realised that all I want from 2018 is more of what I already have from 2017! More love from me to others and from my family and friends to me. More happiness, in everything that I do. More progression and opportunities at work and more career development. More appreciation of myself and more continual development of self love. Just more of what I already have.

I'm so happy and so content with my life, I've gone on about it all year- I have never been happier and I just want more of that! I don't have any particular goals that I want to achieve just because it's a new year- I just want everything to continue to keep on getting better, the way it has been doing for a long while now.

On a side note, I am incredibly happy that I have finally got to such a good place with my mental health and my mind set that I am no longer fixated on losing weight either. Every year I vow to lose weight, always because I'm so unhappy with how I look, how I'm perceived by others, how I am. 2017 saw me completely changing my views on myself and the levels of self love I had for myself and now I view my body in a far more positive way. Yes, I'm aware that over the holiday period I've gained a few pounds, but so what? Once the indulgence of all the food from Christmas is out of the way I can go back to making healthier choices- that still make me happy- and focus on my wellbeing and self love again. I've had a lovely Christmas where I've been fortunate enough to eat as much as I like of whatever I like, whenever I like- that in itself is a blessing and one I chose to take advantage of because I was lucky enough to do so. Most importantly of all, this choice made me happy and that's what counts.

So for the first time ever, I'm not setting myself goals or resolutions for 2018. What happens, happens- and I can't wait to watch the year unfold!

I hope you all have had brilliant 2017's and have the best year in 2018 full of everything your heart desires and more! If you do choose to set yourself some resolutions, feel free to share them with me- but remember not to be too hard on yourself, or unrealistic. Just set yourself goals that you know will better you and the life you lead.

Happy New Year!

Love from,
Florence Grace

How I Met My Boyfriend

Not too long ago I was having a browse on Twitter and catching up on lots of my favourite bloggers posts from the last couple of months. I'm always so busy that I often forget to read everyone's posts and usually only click on ones that appear on my timeline and catch my eye.

One blog I spent a lot of time browsing through was Tarnya's blog, and one of my favourite posts I read was the story of how her and her husband met. As me and Jonny have been together a while now and I speak about him quite a lot with you guys, I decided that I wanted to go ahead and share the story of how I met him, because I love it and think it's pretty good! So let's take it back to the year 2000...

...Well, only kinda. The year 2000 was when I started primary school, as a cute little 5 year old in reception. The reason this is relevant to the story is because- dun, dun, duuuuun- Jonny went to the same primary school as me! He was the year above me, but right from reception through to year 6 (aged 5 to age 11 for anyone outside of the English school system!) we were at the same school. Obviously we didn't speak and we weren't friends or anything, but I was aware of who he was. As I got older, I heard of him- and his younger brother- through my younger sister and through my ex- boyfriend and some other mutual friends. So I was aware of his presence (lol) but still didn't really know him.

Girlfriend and Boyfriend

Fast forward quite a few years later to when I was 21, single and a bit of a town rat, out partying every weekend. One night, which Instagram tells me was the 20th January 2017, I bumped into a guy, who we will call S, who said hi to me and had a bit of a chat with me and my friend. (The relevance of this seemingly insignificant detail will become apparent very soon...). Me and my friend, A, left the club to go to another one to finish the night off- and here is where I saw Jonny for pretty much the first time since primary school... a whole 10 years ago haha! He was really drunk and by himself and A had popped to the loo so I was alone too...so Jonny tried to dance with me. I was not interested and politely told him no quite a few times, but he persisted until A came back from the loo and intervened. That was the end of that- or so I thought!

After we were done at the club, A and I decided to go to McDonalds. We were sat there enjoying our drunken food when who should come in but S and Jonny. S came over to sit with us straight away- and so Jonny did too! And whilst me and S were chatting, Jonny and A were chatting too. It was kinda like a cute double date thing, and after that night we had a *brief* group whatsapp the four of us. As it happened, us girls weren't interested in either of the boys and the whole thing kinda faded out and that was the end of that- for real.

Girlfriend and Boyfriend

Fast forward again to 3rd July 2017 when I went to British Summer Time at Hyde Park to see Justin Bieber. Who did I bump into there? Only S, and another of his friends! We spent the day together- strictly as friends- and this lead to me chatting to S again. One day, a couple of weeks later, he sent me a snapchat of him and Jonny at his house together and invited me to join them. I was busy at the time so had to decline but I said "I miss Jonny, lets do something soon". Little did I know how that sentence would set in motion a chain of events that would completely change my life!

On the 6th August 2017 S dropped me a text inviting me bowling with him and Jonny- but we weren't going to tell Jonny I was coming, to keep it a surprise. I was this close to saying no, because I was so tired and just couldn't be bothered to be honest, but my mum persuaded me to go and so I said yes- and I'm so glad I did! Let's just say Jonny wasn't over the moon with the surprise of me when him and S picked me up (he rarely cracks a smile as it is) and the evening ended up seeing a couple of friends joining us, us not going bowling and being utterly spontaneous but so much fun!

"It was the start of the summer, it felt just like it was the start of forever"

Following this, me, Jonny, S and the rest of the group of friends met up as much as we could over the summer. I saw Jonny and S almost every single day! I made it clear to one of my girlfriends who was hanging out with Jonny, S and I that I wasn't into Jonny though, the way that she was into S. In fact, I even said "I hope Jonny doesn't think this is some double date set up, because it is never going to happen!". He informs me he said the same to S! It's funny how things change...

Cute couple

And then one day, something just clicked. We only went on one 'date' so to speak, and whilst we never really acknowledged the fact that we 'liked' each other over the course of the summer, we kind of knew that each other did and we acted like a couple- he'd pick me up from work, we'd cuddle on the sofa at our friends houses, that kind of thing. But we never said anything out loud or addressed the topic- I was certain he was keeping me in the friend zone and whilst ordinarily this would have put me off and made me want to give up and go for someone else,  it seems that there must be something special about Jonny, because I didn't give up. I stuck around anyway, waiting to see what would happen, and I'm so glad that I did!

After an incredible summer, one slightly nervewracking date, several car journeys where I waited for a kiss that never came, one weekend apart whilst he was at a festival, dozens of facetime calls and text messages, endless nights spent together, cuddled on the sofa at our friends house and plenty of banter and roasting of each other (mainly me to him, I won't lie), Jonny and I finally had our first kiss on 3rd September 2017- and shortly after he asked me to be his girlfriend.

We've been pretty inseparable ever since! He moved in with me after two months, and we're moving into our own place after four. It's happening slightly faster than with most relationships but I wouldn't have it any other way- especially when everything just feels so right! I've never felt like I've matched anyone so well, but me and Jonny make a really great team! I can't help but feel like we were just "meant to be" when I go over the story of how we met, and that makes me feel really happy. I honestly feel like the luckiest girl in the world every single day and I love him more than I can say. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us!

Sorry if this was too gushy or cheesy for your liking, but I hope for the most part you enjoyed it! How did you meet your significant other? Share your stories with me because I genuinely love hearing them!

2017 | The Highlight Reel

I love the end of a year, because each year I do a roundup of all the good and exciting things that have happened in my life and I really love looking back and having the time to reflect on it all- especially if there's things that I've forgotten about. No questions about it, 2017 has been the best year of my life. It has been the year of self evolution. It has been the year that I finally- finally- grew up and got my shit together. It's been the year that my life has had a total makeover and completely changed. I have loved every second (well...most of the seconds) and had the time of my life. So let's just recap...

The first month of the year, the first chapter of a fresh start...I began the new year in Oxford with my a girlfriend. We were each others New Year's kiss, as it was my first New Year's single and alone for the first time in 6 years and also the one year marker of my *horrific* breakup. It was nice to start the New Year feeling happy and refreshed.

I moved house and finally got my own room- although this did mean saying goodbye to my fur babies, Elsie and Doris, who I miss so much, so often. Little did I know that this would be my last family home!

I met Jonny properly for the first time, not realising how significant this moment would be later on in the year!

I began working in partnership with Elegant Touch, which I was honestly over the moon about! They sent me my first batch of nails to promote in January and it just seemed like a brilliant way to start the year.

I had a job interview with Laura Ashley Head Office in a social media role and got to the final stages of the interview process but was unfortunately unsuccessful. However, this proved to me that my skills and experience were obviously good enough for somewhere as senior as LA Head Office so this spurred me on to apply for roles in higher positions in my field. Daunting but exciting!

I went to a few gigs in February which was fun! I got to see Drake live with Lauren which was an incredible experience and one that I wish I could relive over and over- he was so good! I also saw Loyle Carner (bae) and The Fratelli's too!

It was another Valentine's Day alone, so I spent it with my youngest sister- we exchanged the cutest of gifts and ordered a Dominos, so I think we did it right! We also did a photoshoot for a blog post I posted following Valentine's Day, which turned out to be my most popular post of all time...

I also got my first ever double bed in February- it doesn't sound like much I know but this was really something to me and changed my sleep for the better!

I got told I had to up my glasses prescription, so I got stuck wearing them almost all of the time. A bit of a low point but everyone says I really suit glasses, and I've grown used to them now so it's not so bad!

My biggest achievement of all- I got to interview Radio 1 DJ Gemma Cairney for my magazine, Love from...! I couldn't believe my luck and was so over the moon about this!

I started off March in the best way- I won £100 worth of Elegant Touch nails and tickets to Glamour's Beauty Festival. I never win anything so I was really happy about this! The Beauty Festival happened a couple of weeks later and was really good!

Elegant Touch

I went to another gig, this time to see The Weeknd with Bobbie! We managed to get really close to the stage and he was honestly almost better in person then he is on Spotify/CD's etc.

The Weeknd

I managed to secure tickets to see Gorillaz at their festival in the summer, thanks to my Dad. I cried with happiness because I never thought these guys would perform live again!

The GIRL POWER issue of Love from... came out, featuring Gemma Cairney and it was the best and most successful issue to date. I was so happy with it and it sold out twice!

I attended the Makeup Revolution 3rd birthday party, where I got to see Julia, Vix and Jemma which was amazing and so much fun! I was thrilled to have been invited- they know how to throw the best parties!

I attended my first ever christening, and I found a guy here that I *really* liked and continued to pursue for the next couple of months. C r i n g e but a big learning curve for me.

I met Tiff in person, properly for the first time! We went on a girly lunch date and found out that we are basically soul mates. She's been a huge part of my life ever since.

I went on my first ever double date with the aforementioned guy. It was really good and a lot of fun and, again, a big learning curve.

I got to see baby Bobbie a lot too, which was really nice. She grows so fast and every time I see her she's different! I babysat her solo for a couple of hours at my house and really learnt how much hard work babies can be, which prompted me to blog about how I was never going to have kids...

The best achievement of all- I got a new job! I landed myself my first "proper", "grown up" job as a Communications Officer and got to quit retail for good, yay!

I started off May seeing Stormzy with Bobbie which was unreal- I don't even have the words to express how unbelievable he was or how talented he is. If you ever get the chance to see him, go!

I spent an entire weekend with Tiff, going to a cute little gig together, going out for drinks, having a cute lunch date, making new friends and trying the worlds best burgers. This weekend really stands out in my mind because it was just so much fun and was so spontaneous!

June was a great month for me! June 1st marks the birthday of my magazine! Love from... turned 2 and I got to celebrate by going out for dinner and even having a birthday cake- a surprise from my mum and sister! Running your own business is hard work but the magazine is something that I am so passionate about and love doing- I couldn't ever not do it!

birthday cake

I had a few encounters with the previously mentioned guy, which ended in- you guessed it- disaster. However, they have left me with some absolutely hilarious memories. Now, if people could just never speak to me about olive oil again, that would be great...

I got to see Gorillaz live at their festival! The day was gorgeously hot and sunny, and being located next to the beach meant I got to spend some time at the seaside as well. It was a lot of fun and definitely one of the best gigs I've ever been to in my life!

I spent so much time hanging out with various girlfriends, which brought me closer to all of them and we made some brilliant memories together which we still laugh about now.

I pulled off hosting a huge conference at work which felt like a massive career achievement for me!

I saw Justin Bieber, live and in person. Yes he was very far away but I still saw him in real life. I also looked totally bomb on that day and want to go back in time just to wear that outfit again. This day was also a key point that lead to mine and Jonny's relationship, so is a very happy memory in my mind.

blonde girl

I got to see Blushes live for the third time and got to see Foster the People live for the first time, both of whom were absolutely brilliant.

There was a lot more girl time- drinks, brunches, dinner dates, gym dates (yes, really!), spontaneous car trips to nowhere and also two press trips to London for my blog which were huge accomplishments for me! I got to work with Edgerton Pink Gin and Tresor Paris and it was an honor to be recognised as a blogger by both of these companies!

There was a lot of body positivity in July too- I fully fell in love with myself and it felt great.

I was reunited with my family on my dad's side for the first time in 15 years which was really lovely and made me feel complete.

A big step was beginning to look at flats and buy homeware in preparation for moving out! I began looking at the different kinds of places I could afford and finally began to feel like a grown up!

Finally, on the 31st July, my blog turned 3!

birthday cake

In August I worked on a really exciting campaign with Elegant Touch which involved being part of one of their promotional videos shared on social media! I was mega excited about this because it was just another chance to get my name/face out there whilst working with a brand I truly loved!

I met Jonny again and started to hang out with him and get to know him- gradually falling head over heels for him (aw). We saw each other almost every day and did a lot of fun things together, like going bowling, going to Waddesdon Manor, breakfast dates and late night 'ghost hunts'. I also met some of his friends, who in turn, became my friends. Some of my favourite memories from this year are from August.

I worked on some sponsored content with The Piano Works and got to take an amazing trip there. I got way too drunk but had the time of my life and definitely want to go back sometime soon!

I also got to work with seven different brands to create sponsored content in August, which made a nice little additional stream of income for me and left me feeling very hopeful and positive about my blog.

YAY, Jonny asked me to be his girlfriend! After vowing to stay single for the rest of my life, after feeling like I would never love anyone again or let anyone love me, I opened myself up to the idea of a new relationship and became Jonny's girlfriend. We've been attached at the hip ever since- I can't seem to shake him off!

I went on a great night out in MK for Poppy's birthday and had such a laugh- it's one of my favourite nights out from the year, because it was a messy one but not so messy that there was drama and no one could remember what happened.

Jonny and I house sat for a friend so spent a week living together... it didn't take long for us to realise we probably wanted to do this permanently. It was such a good week and between us we managed to keep a cat alive and cook without the assistance of our parents! Go us!

Jonny also took me to the zoo for a surprise day out so that was a massive high point of September too!

I went to see Chip with Jonny, which was our first gig together and was... interesting.

Me, Jonny and two of our friends took a mini break to London for the weekend. We went to Ministry of Sound, the Aquarium, played at Junkyard Golf, went out for dinner and drinks and again, realised that we had a lot of fun when we were together and that we didn't really want to have to be apart. We've spent every night together since then!

Finally, Jonny won a lot of money in a bet, so booked me and him a holiday to Amsterdam- my favourite place in the world!!!

(Yep, as it was our first month dating, Jonny features quite heavily in September, and from here on in!)

In October, me and Jonny had a 9 day holiday! It started on the 7th October, where we headed up to Manchester for the night to see Annie Mac, which was incredible. We came back home on the 8th and on the 9th we flew out to Amsterdam for 5 days! We had the most incredible time- it was my fifth time there and Jonny's first, and despite running out of money, we crammed in so many tourist attractions, including ones I'd never done before and made a lot of great memories there together. On the 13th we flew home on the 14th we went to stay at The Manor for a night, as part of a collaboration for my blog! Not only was this another great memory for us, it was a beautiful way to round off our holiday and was also a huge blogging achievement for me!

The Manor

The SELF issue of Love from... magazine came out and was a huge success, yay! I tried to be a bit more creative with the page design and layout to make things look more professional and I think it's really paid off.

One of my top highlights this year has to be speaking at the Diamonds and Deals Women In Business event. To be classed as a successful business woman, and to speak alongside the likes of Remel London, a huge idol of mine, was a complete honor and I was utterly overwhelmed. I want to do more of these inspiring chats in 2018!

Remel London

I had my birthday night out at the end of October which was a huge success. I felt so surrounded by love and happiness and realised how lucky and grateful I am to have such brilliant people in my life- both the new ones and the old ones, all of whom helped to make my birthday so special. (I also looked the best I've ever looked in my whole life, which was great haha).

Finally, Beth and Callum's baby shower. A lot of fun and a lot of baby talk which made me very broody!

Baby Shower

My birthday- and meeting bloody TOM HANKS, my number one, all time hero! He said happy birthday to me! I don't need anything else from life, thank you. I am done.

Bobbie turned 1!

I got to see Dua Lipa live and scream along with all her lyrics about fuck boys which was great.

I took Jonny to see Blushes live for the first time, and introduced him to Tiff- it's so important to me that my friends and Jonny get on, and luckily they do!

I got back into presenting work! I presented six Safe Drive Stay Alive shows to 1,000 people each time over and I absolutely smashed it- so much so that I've been asked back to do it next year! I absolutely can't wait because I really did have the time of my life doing it. I am so at home with a mic in my hand!

I got to celebrate Jonny's birthday! I spoilt him as much as I could and we decided last minute to spend the weekend in London too, which was a nice treat for us both!

Callum and Beth's baby was born! Jonny and I both cried at the first photo of him and when we got to meet him and have cuddles we couldn't get the thoughts of babies off our brains- we are both so broody now!

I found out I had to move out of the family home as of January so me and Jonny made the brave, slightly crazy and pretty scary decision to move out together and began looking at flats, which was exciting and too much adulting for my liking.

Lastly, I landed myself a new job! I only work two days a week as a Communications Officer and I managed to land myself a role as a Social Media Assistant to a photographer for another two days a week! As social media is something I am passionate about I was so bloody happy to get this role- especially because I love photography too! And I was even happier to be working full time hours again. I started in the last week of November.

Jonny and I secured the house that we wanted!

We spent the weekend in London and got to see a BBK gig which was pretty insane.

We went to Winter Wonderland- Jonny had never been before and is a bit of a grinch so I delighted in getting to drag him around the most festive place in London!

winter wonderland

We signed the contract for our house, paid the deposit and made everything 100% permanent and secure! We began buying homeware, such as sofas, and doing a lot of other adult things that are pretty daunting!

Finally, we celebrated our first Christmas together, which we both said was our best Christmas ever too! We had a lovely day with both of our families and were both completely spoilt too!

So there we have it- the rather lengthy highlight reel from the best year of my life so far! I've made some amazing career achievements and I fell in love again- and I'm finally moving out! So much is going on and there's so much planned for 2018...I just can't wait for next year!

5 Tips to Help You Keep Your Relationship Sweet

Being in a relationship can be the best thing in the world. You always have someone to share good news with, you automatically have a date to every wedding and party, you know you're going to be kissing someone at midnight on New Year's Eve instead of throwing back a shot and you have someone to clap for you when you don't feel like you can clap for yourself. While all of that is great, it's sad but true that all too easily, a relationship can go sour and, if not dealt with properly, the bitterness can lead to a break up. Having been in a relationship where this happened before, having bounced around the casual dating scene for 18 months or so and to now being in a committed relationship again that is (so far) so good, I have 5 tips for you that can help you to keep your own relationship pretty sweet.

I can not stress this enough! Without communication, it is so easy for the entire relationship to break down- and so quickly too. I never really used to speak up before, but I am so vocal in my relationship now. If he's pissed me off, he's gonna know about it. If he makes me happy, I make sure to tell him. Communication helps you to vocalise any problems and to deal with them more efficiently. Holding something inside and bottling up is only going to lead to a bigger explosion later down the line. Communication doesn't just have to be for bad things though, it is healthy to communicate positivity too! Don't you love it when someone makes you feel appreciated? Well, it's likely that your partner loves to feel appreciated too! Compliment them, send them cute messages out of the blue, show them gratitude when it's deserved...communication is key to any successful relationship, there's no doubt about it.

"Maybe a relationship is just two idiots who don't know a damn thing except the fact that they're willing to figure it out together"

Keep your relationship your relationship- don't let people interfere!
You'll probably find that more often than not, any discord in a relationship is due to other people getting involved. You've heard this from someone, they've been told something by someone else, your friend doesn't like how he treats you and his mates girlfriend would never make him do the washing, so why do you?

Listen. Don't let anyone else interfere. If the two of you are happy then that is all that matters. Don't let other people tell you how they think your relationship should be. Don't let other people try and sow seed's of doubt between the two of you. As much as you can, try to keep people out of your relationship. And on that note, try and keep social media out of your relationship too! I'm not saying hide your relationship from the online world, although you can if you like. No, I mean don't compare your relationship to a relationship you see online. Don't try and live up to the ridiculous expectations that we see being set online. Your relationship is yours and it's going to go how you want it to. Don't let other people or social media tell you otherwise!

It's between you and your partner, and if the two of you are happy and content with how things are then no one else, and nothing else, matters.

Honesty is the best policy
Similar to communicate, but always be honest with each other. If you're mad, make sure that they know. If you've messed up, let them know. Be honest about your feelings, because if you lie once, you'll feel comfortable enough to lie again and again (and I'm not talking about little white lies like "I didn't eat the last packet of Dairylea dunkers babe"...). Being honest with each other will mean that there is a good element of trust between you (something a relationship absolutely cannot work without!) and this means that, in the grand scheme of things, you two will be happier together.

"Relationships aren't for getting things, they're for giving things. Don't fall in love to make yourself happy, fall in love to make the person you fall in love with happy"

Live your own lives
In a relationship, of course you're going to want to be side by side for the vast majority of the time. However, it is important to maintain a life outside of your relationship- don't ditch your friends for a relationship, don't drop hobbies and extracurricular activities and, if you're at school, don't stop attending after school clubs or let your grades slide. It's great to do stuff together, but it's important to do stuff alone too. Even if it's just once a week, make sure you spend some time doing something with friends or family without your partner! A little separation can be very healthy!

Have fun!
More important than almost anything else is to make sure you two have fun together! Don't get set into boring routines, shake things up! Keep going on date nights, surprise each other with small gifts or surprise days out, tell each other jokes and make each other laugh. Sure, sitting in front of the TV to binge watch Netflix is good once or twice a week, but every night is going to get boring eventually! Keep things exciting and have fun, and you two are guaranteed to be happy for a very long time to come!

Don't forget that a lot of this advice is applicable to friendships and family relationships too, not just romantic ones! It's important to keep all of your relationships healthy if you want them to be longlasting, and the tips above are great ways to ensure that happens! What advice would you give to help keep a relationship sweet? Feel free to share yours in the comments below!

Moving Out, Starting a New Job and All the Bits In Between!

The last three or four weeks have been crazy. I mean, a real whirlwind of drama, excitement, nerves, stress, more excitement, a lot of work and some big surprises. I've been tweeting a little bit about what's been going on, but not giving away too many specifics so I thought I would treat you all to a bit of an update from me!

Last month, after turning 21 I wrote a blog post about how being 21 had been the 'ultimate glow up', and I concluded the post with a final paragraph that read:

"I am living for being 22. I'm ready for more of everything; more success and more blessings, more opportunities and more good fortune, more love and more happiness. In fact, I'm ready for an overflow of it all. If 22 is half as good as 21 was, I know it's going to be a great year."

Well, I'm happy to report that the first month of being 22 has been incredible. If the rest of the next year is anywhere near as good as the last month has been I'm going to be one happy lady. So. Where do I start?

New opportunities
November saw me landing myself an incredible presenting job at work. I hadn't done any presenting work for a year, so I was beyond excited. However, while I've done live TV work, pre-recorded TV work and radio work too, this was something I had very minimal experience with- presenting in front of a live audience of 1,000 people at a time, six times over!

It was for a scheme we get involved with at work, Safe Drive Stay Alive, a show that promotes safe driving and the damage dangerous driving can do to sixth form students across the country. I was the host for the six shows in Buckingham and it was one of the best things I've ever done- not to mention one of the greatest achievements of my career so far. I was terrified, there's no doubt about it, but I absolutely smashed it. People told me I was a natural, that I was a superstar, that I owned the stage- and to be honest, I really just felt so comfortable and at home doing what I was doing! If the compliments from the audience weren't evidence enough, I know I must have been good at what I was doing because I've been invited back to do it all again next year! I already can't wait.

Better still, following my success presenting these shows, my place of work have now decided they'd like to utilise my presenting skills and have offered me two more amazing presenting opportunities to be completed over the next six months. I won't speak too much about them until everything is 100% confirmed but I am so excited about them!

Starting a new job
Some of you will know and some of you won't that my permanent job as a Communications Officer is only 2 days a week, and recently I have been doing overtime in another role that had me working full time hours. In October, this overtime stopped so I had a lot of free time.

Well, that's not the case anymore, because I landed myself a new job as a Social Media Assistant for a photographer in a town not too far from mine! I've been doing this for three weeks now, twice a week, and I absolutely love it. I'm being given the chance to utilise my skills, develop skills I haven't used for a while and learn totally new ones- for example, I've been assisting my boss in building her new website from scratch, something I've never done before! My boss is lovely, so laid back and fun to work with and we both have a passion for photography (if anyone remembers, I was going to study it at uni!) so we get on really well and I absolutely love working with her.

In addition to this, I've taken on some overtime on my one free day a week in a totally different role in a completely different location/team for the company I already work for which is exciting! I'm learning brand new skills which means I'm now more valuable to the company and can work across more departments should they need me. With my expansive skill base I'm a better asset and hopefully more opportunities will open themselves up to me, thanks to my hard work!

I'm super happy to be back working 5 days a week again, and all this extra income is particularly good because...

Moving Out
... I'm moving out! Finally! How many times on this blog have I written about wanting to move out, about one of my goals being to save enough money to move out and it's never happened. Now, finally, for real it's happening.

Okay, so it's a little spontaneous and totally unplanned- I'm kind of having to move out through no choice of my own, but I'm so excited about it. Me and Jonny have decided to move out together, which might seem a little sudden given that we've only been together for three months but we spend almost every night together anyway, and if I moved out alone, I'd just have him stay over every night anyway- because why wouldn't I? So we may as well take the plunge together! (Yolo and all that...) Neither of us have lived away from home before, so the entire process is brand new to us, but we managed to secure the house we want to rent yesterday, so it's all go, go, go now! We're hoping to be moved in within the first week of January so it will be a lovely start to 2018- and to the rest of our lives together (unless he leaves socks on top of the wash basket rather than inside the wash basket one more time...)

There's so much to do, and so much to buy. I didn't even realise until I made a list, so we didn't forget small essentials like dishcloths, bleach, loo roll and so on! I'm nervous, I'm a little unprepared but I'm so excited!

And some added extras...
There's been some other small things that have happened that have made me super happy in the last month! Mine and Jonny's friends had their baby, which made us incredibly broody- an amazing feat considering we were both anti-baby not long before that! As I wrote earlier this year, my feelings towards starting a family changed and I decided kids were just not for me. It seems like this mindset might have changed now but I can confidently say that I still won't be having kids for at least another 5 years minimum. For real. But there is no denying their baby is super cute...

I've been putting some thought into Love from... magazine. I don't want to quit or give up, but I have kind of lost direction with it and now that I'm moving out I need to rethink about funding and money and so on. I've been taking a break but after some words of encouragement and support from regular readers, I think I've begun to put plans in place for a nice big come back in 2018, which I'm excited about. I still have a few copies of the latest issue left, so if you'd like a copy, you can get one here: lovefrommag.bigcartel.com

I've learnt to cook (about time, right?)! Kind of. Okay, so I've gone from cooking absolutely nothing to being able to make a bloody lasagne!!! (Not as hard as I thought, you know!). I was also incredibly proud of myself because I managed to make my own scrambled egg too! I know it's so simple and most people have probably been able to make it since they were about 6 but as someone who is a bit of a culinary disaster, I was pretty impressed with myself!

I've also been working hard- and succeeding- in getting over my commitment issues, relationship wise. Jonny makes me so happy and so comfortable that there's no way I can feel anything other than 100% relaxed about life with him. What happens, happens but I feel a lot better about planning for a long term future now. Exciting, right?!

Finally, I'm tying up so loose ends. I'm not going to go into too much detail about it but I'm resolving conflicts, putting an end to pointless dramas and completing any unfinished business so that I can go into 2018 with a completely clean conscious, no stress or worries and totally 100% happy with life. Boy, that feels good to say!

So there we go...more of a lengthy life update than a little one, and definitely a lot of bragging about how fantastic my life is right now (sorry guys!) but I just wanted to share with you all!

Feel free to share all the exciting things going on in your life right now with me in the comments below, or drop me a message- I want to hear about it all!

Love from,

Florence Grace
